About Grand Master Lucio Farías
Lucio Farías is the founder and president of the International Budokan in Michigan, United States. He has taught Martial Arts to thousands of students of all ages and levels in South and North America.
Lucio Sabas Farías was born in 1938 in the town of Las Cuevas in Mendoza, Argentina. At a very early age, he learnt Judo with the Sensei Omurazaki in the japanese association Nihon Jin Kai from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In 1962 with the support of Sensei Hitoshi Nishizaka, he opened his very first Dojo in the city of Lanús, Argentina. From 1963 to 1964, Lucio participated in the tournaments of G.E.B.A. and taught Judo at the Duprat de Banfield College.
In 1964 he moved to Mendoza, Argentina where he opened the Shudokan Dojo focusing in championship training. At that time, he also taught Martial Arts in Gimnasia Club, Talleres Club, Regatas Club, the Police Department, the Air Force, Aquinas College, and the Cuyo University, counting with over 1200 students.
Furthermore, he expanded his knowledge to the cities of San Juan, San Luis and Córdoba in Argentina, and Chile.
He finished his studies in the University of Architecture of Mendoza in 1976. Leaving more time for the dedication of the Martial Arts, and training of the Karate styles Gōjū-ryū and Kyokushinkai
Later on, in 1982 he moved to Venezuela, where he opened the Gojukan Center. He expanded his knowledge of the Martial Arts to many clubs such as Venoco, and the Unitec University in Venezuela, and Aruba. Moreover, offering training with the top masters, Hanshi Yoshihito Hiramatsu and Sensei Higaonna Morio.
In 1998 he moved to Michigan, United States of America where he graduated his PhD. Additionally, opening the Hombu Dojo USA, serving students and masters from all Martial Arts styles. He is currently expanding his knowledge of Martial Arts to colleges, institutes, and universities.
